Planter reproduction
About the project
For Slotboom Steenhouwers from Winterswijk, Reszto made a reproduction of the planter and pedestal of Castle house of Diepenheim.
The natural stone parts were old and in poor condition. There were large cracks in the parts and, as a result, pieces had also frozen to pieces during the winter. The planter and pedestal were first thoroughly cleaned and later repaired with a restoration mortar called Monulit. After the restoration work, silicone molds were made of both parts.
Because these were very heavy parts, an extra sturdy support mold had to be made around them from fiberglass-reinforced polyester. This material is incredibly strong and will support the mold well during casting.
A durable artificial stone was poured into the molds to match the color of the old planter and pedestal. Later, the parts were also aged to look more like the original material. This was done with natural pigments so that it appeared as true to nature as possible. The composite material itself will age like real natural stone due to tarnish from moss and algae.
So from old natural stone planter to a beautiful artificial stone planter reproduction that can show off again for years in the garden of Castle house at Diepenheim.
