Facade stone design Dudok Wonen

About the project

For the housing foundation Dudok Wonen from Hilversum, Reszto made a facing brick design and several reproductions of newly made facing bricks.

Because Dudok Wonen wanted to celebrate their 100th anniversary and had something special made for this anniversary.

They asked a number of parties to provide designs related to the services and activities of Dudok Wonen. Reszto created three different facade brick designs in Photoshop and tried to incorporate Dudok Wonen as much as possible.

From these creations, one facing brick design was chosen that needed further elaboration. Dudok Wonen wanted to incorporate one of their finest projects into the design of the facing brick. This project "The Milk Factory" was the old Campina Melkunie factory where Dudok Wonen is now located.

Finally, an approved design emerged that could now be translated into a tangible model. The facade stone was sculpted in clay and later molded with a silicone rubber. The casts were later cast in an artificial stone and painted with a cold glaze coating.

The painted design of the facade stone was hung in different places, these were for example new projects or buildings of Dudok Wonen. In the end, 24 reproductions were made of this new facade stone.
