Artwork mountains De Woerd
About the project
For artist Maja von Hanno, Reszto made reproductions of this artwork, these sculpted mountains in the neighborhood "De Woerd" in De Meern.
The Norwegian artist designed this landscape of mountains as an art application, but also as a meeting place for people from the neighborhood. Hence the title : "Meet you at the Mountains".
The original models were sculpted from clay on a frame of styrofoam and chicken wire.
We made a mold of these sculpted models from synthetic resin and fiberglass in several parts. These parts were later removed from the mountains of clay and sprayed clean with a pressure washer. This was to get the leftover clay out of the mold to create a nice clean surface for the reproductions. In these hard molds, reproductions were laminated in layers of fiberglass and polyester.
In the mountains came a stainless steel frame for attachment to the concrete pedestals that were placed on a central lawn(Vasiliplantsoen) in the De Woerd. The three different mountains were also later coated in different RAL colors so that they looked even more like a mountain landscape.
The mountains were transported and placed on the Vasalisplantsoen in De Woerd. During a festive opening, the artwork was unveiled by an alderman, residents and the artist.
