Maria statue replica of the OLV House
About the project
Commissioned by sculptor Stide Vos , Reszto has made a replica of the maria statue which stands in the Onze Lieve Vrouwenhuisje in Den Bosch. This "little house" stands on a pole next to the newly realized well house on the market square.
The statue is based on a museum piece, an antique wooden maria statue which was made around that time.
With this example and its dimensions, sculptor Stide Vos set to work. The model was sculpted in plastiline, a non-curing clay. From this sculpted model, Reszto made a mold of silicone rubber to cast a replica of the statue of the Virgin in. A durable casting mortar that can withstand weather and wind was used for this.
After finishing the cast model, the maria statue was painted in the original colors to resemble the old wooden statue as much as possible. The OLV House and well house were unveiled in the market square in Den Bosch in late 2015.

The 1522 Foundation has made the case for the construction of the well house and the OLV House with the replica of the maria statue. The design was created by Weyts Architects of Bergen op Zoom and was based on old drawings and information to achieve a similar result.
