Replicas concrete sculptures
About the project
In collaboration with sculptor Serge van Druten, Reszto created two replicas of these concrete sculptures.
The original sculptures were in poor condition, including cracks in the concrete and parts had broken off. The concrete models had been in storage in Zeist for years.
After the restoration work Serge van Druten performed, silicone molds were made from the sculptures. In these molds, reproductions were made of fiberglass reinforced plastic with the color according to new concrete. The reproduced sculptures were provided with a stainless steel frame with which the sculptures were hung on the facade.
Years ago, the original statues hung above the entrance to an elementary school. This school has since been demolished and an apartment complex has now been built on the same spot. The municipality of Zeist thought it would be nice to put these statues back above the entrance to the new complex.
The replicas of these concrete sculptures can now be admired again in Den Dolder.
